The most well known and widely accessed of the Microsoft® Casual Games platforms, operating system games are played by 80 million Microsoft Windows® XP users worldwide every month. Desktops and laptops running on Windows XP come preloaded with a collection of engaging, easy-to-play favorites such as solitaire, “FreeCell” and “Minesweeper.” With the release of the Windows Vista™ operating system in 2007, fun arcade-style games will be even easier to find and play with the new My Games navigational tool. Windows Vista users will also find a full suite of new and remastered card, board and puzzle favorites.

Almost everyone! Games are the most frequently used application on new computers and are often the first application opened by new computer owners. Games help users learn control keys and system navigation tools. In fact, solitaire is the No. 1 opened application in the Windows XP operating system.

How Do You Play Operating System Games?
Locating and playing games on your computer’s Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system is a snap. Many games don’t even require an Internet connection. Simply click on the green Start menu from almost any application, scroll over to All Programs to bring up your computer’s application menu, and then choose Games. Scrolling over Games will bring up a secondary navigation list of all pre- and user-installed game titles on the computer. Pick your favorite game by clicking on its title, and begin gameplay. It’s that easy.

How Much Do Operating System Games Cost?
Pre-installed operating system game titles on both the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems are free.

There are 11 pre-loaded titles installed with the Windows XP operating system, including these:
